This project involved installing an extra-large two-flap dog door directly into a custom glass panel in an existing sliding patio door. The original glass was replaced with custom-shaped, tempered Low-E safety glass designed specifically to accommodate the XL pet door.
One of the most important parts of this installation was customizing the glass thickness and overall configuration to fit the existing patio door system. The new glass and pet door were carefully engineered to provide the necessary clearance, allowing the sliding panel to continue moving properly alongside the panel containing the pet door. This means the homeowner can still slide the patio door open and use it normally whenever they want to walk outside.
Our installation included removal of the existing glass, preparation of the door frame, installation of the custom-cut tempered glass, secure mounting of the XL dog door, professional sealing, adjustment, and final testing. The completed system provides convenient outdoor access for a large dog while preserving the functionality and clean appearance of the existing sliding glass door.
